Graham spent many years throwing himself energetically about the footballing goals
for Longwick . If he didn’t break every bone in the process he certainly bruised
them all but he kept coming back to stop even more goals ( so his eyesight was ok
then!). Reason prevailed though and at a great age (that’s the way his body looked!),
he thought he’d switch that alert and lissome body to grace the sport of Cricket.
He couldn’t fail with that innate co-
He brought all of this to our Cricket team plus unfortunately his knackered back! Always up for a challenge though both he and the Club set about winding back the clock – rejuvenating the body and refining those innate ( or was it inert ? ) cricketing skills.
Late starter he may be but he has become a much valued member of the team, turning his hand to the odd piece of wicket keeping but gradually developing an appropriate style to start our batting onslaught at times, especially when the light is bright and the ball nice and shiny!
Graham hits the ball very hard when he sees it well, and if his back ain’t hurtin’ too much!
We missed him in season 2009, but hope he’s back with a good back and some clear specs for season 2010.
He’s a great team member who’s played some 79 matches for us so far, getting better with age (he hopes !) we think.
