John, a right hand bat and occasional bowler has been playing cricket for Longwick for the best part of 35 years. His front foot defensive style and limited back lift attack as seen him command an opening position for many years.
Known for using the same bat for at least 15 years (whether broken or not) and the ability to bounce a cricket ball of the palms of his hands 4 or 5 times before securely wrapping his fingers around it has earned him the nick name ‘The Juggler’.
John has an impressive batting record having scored more that 10,500 runs and he still holds the clubs highest score record of 137 not out.
Not known as a front line bowler John continues to contribute with the ball having bowled nearly 170 over for 900 runs and taking 36 wickets.
Much of John’s career has been spent behind the stumps demonstrating a clean, unfussy and economical style with the gloves.
As a regular skipper, our chief grounds man and Chairman of the club, John is a central figure.
