Michael Vicary

Michael is a stalwart and important, likeable member of the club. He would readily concede that he is not the most naturally gifted cricketer in the world. However, he can always be relied on to play when required (unless he gets lost on the way to the ground). The origins of, and reasons for, his nick name of George (after George Roper) have been lost in the mists of time, but Michael (not always happily) answers to both names.

Career statistics reveal an impressive average of 1.43 (the point 03 bit being very important). Had this been for bowling it would have been impressive, but sadly it is Michael’s batting average.

Michael’s catching ability used to be so bad that he would have struggled to catch the plague in Eyam village. However, tireless practice has improved his game significantly. This is something for which his team mates are eternally grateful as Michael is the only player who volunteers to buy a jug after taking one catch. Admittedly, he is unlikely to be the saviour of Adnam’s brewery, but every little contribution, no matter how very very small is probably very welcome.
