Well, where can we start? Will started his ambitious Longwick CC career in 2009 after not participating in the cricketing environment for 5 years. His debut season offered plenty to look forward to for both players and spectators. He is a right arm, medium paced, wizard like, spell binding bowler. In his first season at the club he bowled 103 overs, taking 16 wickets and only going for 467 runs, along with a strike rate of 39.6. Now onto his batting figures; 11 innings, 81 runs, 2 not outs and a top score of 47*. Although this looks adequate for a tail ender, we would not be doing justice if we did not mention the magnificent run of 5 proud ducks in a row .
Will has been graced with the unfortunate but obvious nicknames of ‘Harry’ which follows on from his well known family member, and then swiftly moved onto ‘The Wizard’. However, with his admiration for a certain playing member, I am sure there are plenty more to come.
With the annual Longwick Cricket tour fast approaching; ‘The Wizard’ is set to make his first appearance.
Everyone at Longwick Cricket Club is looking forward to the bright future Will is going to bring on and off the pitch. From laughs in the changing rooms, to desire for other members of the team, who knows what will come next.
